This is what Prince William needs to do to prince Harry to show he’s a ‘leader’, says royal expert

Prince Harry discusses 'close bond' with Prince William in resurfaced birthday video

The onus is on Prince William to heal his rift with Prince Harry as it’s ‘not a good look’ for a future King if he can’t “sort out issues”, according to royal expert Duncan Larcombe. Prince William needs to sort out his issues with brother Prince Harry if he wants to show he is a leader, a royal expert has said.

The feuding brothers appeared to have agreed to a temporary truce in the days after the Queen’s death with William inviting Harry and wife Meghan Markle to join him and Kate for a walkabout in Windsor. They also stood shoulder to shoulder during several solemn processions on the day of their grandmother’s funeral and joined their royal cousins for a vigil around her coffin. But royal sources have said there is still “a serious amount of distrust in the air” between the brothers with their relationship still hanging in the balance until the contents of Harry’s upcoming memoir are revealed.

And now royal expert Duncan Larcombe has said it is “not a good look” for William as a future King if he cannot bury the hatchet with his younger brother. He told True Royalty TV’s The Royal Beat: “William [has] just become the Prince of Wales. He’s going to be our King, and it doesn’t look good for him if he can’t sort out the issues with his brother. “He wants a leadership role … to wear the medals and the stuff on his shoulders and be a leader. [But] the Royal Family is being likened to the Kardashians in the way that Harry and Meghan are behaving: they’re being followed around by Netflix, they’re selling out all their Royal brand for the highest bidder.

“That doesn’t mean it’s William’s fault, but for goodness’ sake, William, the onus is not on Harry.” It comes after another expert said that William “just cannot forgive” Harry for the way he has behaved and the trouble he has caused for the family. Katie Nicholl, author of the book ‘The New Royals’ which discusses the next generation of the Royal Family, says that William cannot just put their issues to one side and forget them. Speaking on Dan Wootton Tonight she said: “Ultimately William just cannot forgive his brother, not just for his behaviour and what he’s done and how he’s done it, but look at how much now rests on William.

“He always thought Harry would be his wingman, now he’s doing it on his own.” Ms Nicholl also said that the friction between Harry and the other royals was a strain on the Queen. And she claimed the late Queen was “exhausted” by her attempts to “forge a reconciliation” between her grandsons. She added: “It’s incredibly sad that the twilight years of her reign were marred by this awful family rift that doesn’t show any sign of being healed.”
