Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have announced a new project as the Duke of Sussex gears up for his proposed “solo trip” to Africa that experts have said could cause “strain” on his marriage. Releasing a statement on their Archewell website, the couple revealed their next charitable link-up with Equimundo. The charity was set up with the aim to “engage men and boys as allies in gender equality”.

And the latest report on their Archewell website states: “The 2023 data shows that men are increasingly involved in caregiving and would like to increase their care work at home, although deeply ingrained social norms and a lack of supportive policies and power structures discourage them from doing so. “The report recognises care work as the bedrock of society, and calls for continued advancements towards gender equality. It also emphasises the need for media representation that normalises men’s caregiving roles.”

The statement ended: “The Archewell Foundation is proud to have supported this report, as well as Equimundo’s continued work to promote gender equality around the globe.” It comes after reports the couple were planning “solo projects” following the axing of their huge deal with Spotify. Harry is said to be gearing up to visit Africa alone to make a documentary for Netflix, with one relationship expert suggesting it could be “make or break” for the couple.

Speaking to the Mirror US, senior therapist and relationship expert Sally Baker said: “It’s natural that major life events and external circumstances can profoundly impact a marriage, for better or worse. A solo trip like Prince Harry’s to Africa could potentially put strain on a relationship, especially with divorce rumours circulating.”
