On Thursday evening, Camilla attended a musical event at Salisbury Cathedral that supported the work of local charities like the Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust, the Wiltshire Air Ambulance, and Community First’s Youth Action Wiltshire. Performers at the concert included award-winning pianist Rupert Egerton-Smith and the British Army’s Band of the Grenadier Guards and Band and Bugles of the Rifles.

Participants at the event shared their well-wishes for the monarch with Camilla. “Well he’s doing extremely well under the circumstances,’’ the queen said, according to NBC. “He’s very touched by all the letters and the messages the public have been sending from everywhere—that’s very cheering.”

On Monday, the palace revealed that “a form of cancer” had been detected during an operation Charles underwent in late January to treat a benign enlarged prostate. While the specific type of cancer has not been announced, Bazaar understands that the diagnosis is not prostate cancer. “The king is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure,” the palace said in a statement. “He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.”

Charles is residing at the Sandringham royal estate in the country, where he will recuperate during his outpatient treatment. Earlier this week, Prince William also shared an update on the health of the king and of his wife, Catherine, Princess of Wales, who has been recovering from an abdominal surgery in January.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you, also, for the kind messages of support for Catherine and for my father, especially in recent days. It means a great deal to us all,” William said in a speech at the London’s Air Ambulance Charity gala. He jokingly added, “It’s fair to say the past few weeks have had a rather ‘medical’ focus. So I thought I’d come to an air ambulance function to get away from it all!”
