Prince Harry’s 11-word remark about life as a royal in surprise LA appearance
The Duke of Sussex, 43, quit royal life five years ago in 2020.

Prince Harry made a surprise remark about life as a born royal this week at an event in Los Angeles. The Duke of Sussex, 40, surprised crowds by making a speech at the Upfront Summit in Los Angeles yesterday as he addressed how people and businesses can overcome today’s challenges to improve the future.
While the prince has not been a working royal for five years since quitting in 2020, he did reflect on his lifetime of service as a result of being part of the British monarchy. The duke also reflected on how his royal roots still impact his life in the US, where he has lived with his wife Meghan Markle, 43, and their two children Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three, for the past five years. In a surprising 11-word remark, Harry said: “I’ve approached everything in my life through the lens of service.”
He continued: “From my institutional role traveling the world to my decade of duties in the military, I saw the power of serving others firsthand. “My personal experiences overseas taught me that when you put others first, you build stronger, more sustainable systems. “That’s true from Nigeria to Nepal, and from Sydney to Santa Barbara.” Harry also recalled how his life as a senior working royal revolved around charity, which is still something he focuses on today.
He told the audience: “Because before I moved (to America), so much of my life revolved around charity. “Since then, while my charities remain a core part of my life’s work, I’ve also been focusing on upstream solutions and prevention, driven by decisions and investments that address problems before they require fixing.”
The prince was not accompanied by his wife Meghan Markle to the event. The duke’s reflection on his royal life also comes just days before the launch of Meghan’s Netflix show ‘With Love, Meghan’, which will air on March 4.
