James Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson reportedly agreed that Elba would be an excellent choice for the next super-spy. How old were the earlier actors playing the role of James Bond? The current James Bond, Daniel Craig, was 38 when he started playing the role of Bond in 2006’s Casino Royale. How does Idris Elba’s age become a constraint for the James Bond role?
Idris Elba is now 50 and could be the first black Bond. However, many people think Elba would be too old to play the role. Moreover, the 007 producers echoed the same thought as Broccoli when he said to a significant publication that when they cast Bond, it would be a matter of commitment for 10–12 years. Therefore, the major concern for an actor is to stay committed for such a long time.

Many fans also shared their opinions on Twitter, as one person tweeted that the thought of making Elba the next Bond is idiotic. He added that it takes years to produce a film in the Bond series. So, by the time Elba, 50, acted in his second Bond movie, he would be older than the retirement age of Roger Moore. Some fans were so eager to see Idris Elba in the role that one Twitter user posted a photo of Elba holding a Bond-style gun.
