Prince Harry has been warned that if he goes ahead with releasing his controversial memoir later this year, then his rift with the Royal Family could become “unfixable”. This comes amid suggestions that the memoir could feature criticism of Camilla, the Queen Consort, or other aspects of the monarchy. Appearing on The Jeremy Vine Show, commentator Andrew Pierce has warned any possible reconciliation “depends a lot on Harry’s next move”.

On Saturday, Harry surprised spectators and well-wishers outside Windsor Castle by joining his brother Prince William on an impromptu walkabout. The brothers were joined by each of their wives, Kate, the Princess of Wales, and Meghan Markle. It is understood that William had reached out to Harry to join him on the walk. Responding to the gesture, Mr Pierce said thinks the onus is now on Harry to fix the royal rift.

He said: “We all hope this might be the start of a permanent rapprochement between the two brothers, they used to be so close. “It is undeniable that there has been a huge rift “But I think a lot of this depends on Harry. He has a book coming out later this year. “If it is highly critical of Camilla or other aspects of the Royal Family, the rift could perhaps become unfixable.”

The commentator continued: “What would be really lovely to see is whether he can cancel the book contract, or whether he can rewrite the book. “All the publicity surrounding it suggests it will be more unwelcome publicity for the monarchy. “Funerals can often be the glue that puts families back together again so let’s hope that happens.” Earlier today, Prince Harry followed his brother William by releasing a written tribute to his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

In a touching letter, the Duke remembered his grandmother’s “infectious smile” and commitment to service and duty. Meanwhile, Omid Scobie, who wrote on a book on Meghan and Harry’s relationship with the royals, reported that Harry has been banned from wearing a military uniform at the final vigil at Westminster Hall. He tweeted: “I understand that, unlike Prince Andrew, Prince Harry will NOT be allowed to wear uniform at the final vigil in Westminster Hall.

“No doubt a huge blow for the Duke of Sussex, who served for 10 years and this morning spoke of the Queen being his ‘commander-in-chief’.”
