Queen Elizabeth’s royal secret that left entire Royal Family surprised, says Eugenie
The late Queen Elizabeth II was known for her sense of humour and one event she participated in went down well across the globe – including behind Palace walls. Queen Elizabeth II surprised royal fans with her infamous James Bond sketch during the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics Games – and it appears even the Royal Family were kept in the dark about it.
The late Queen, known for her sense of humour and rarely turned down an opportunity to get involved in a national event, delighted the nation when she participated in a special mission with 007 for the sporting event. The Queen recorded a sketch with actor Daniel Craig at Buckingham Palace and led to the most memorable part of the clip – her “skydive” into the Olympic Stadium. Royal fans were thrilled that the monarch was happy to get involved – and now it turns out that her nearest and dearest had no idea the Queen had agreed to the appearance.
Princess Eugenie, the youngest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, made the revelation while discussing her close relationship with her late grandmother on the White Wine Question Time podcast. Speaking of the Bond sketch, the 33-year-old mother of two said: “Nobody knew… it was amazing. We were all surprised.” Eugenie went on to praise the late Queen’s work ethic and said she and all the grandchildren “learnt how to do things from her”. She said: “She was just one of the best people in the world.
“Her sense of duty and dedication and her love of her people, it really happened in public like you all saw, and it happened in private with us. “We learnt how to do things from her as well, how to talk to people, how to stay strong and dutiful and kind, she really instilled in us.
“When she died I said to people, how lucky I am to have a part of her in me.” The royal also noted her grandmother’s incredible sense of humour. Elsewhere in the interview, Eugenie spoke of her closeness to her older sister Princess Beatrice, telling the host that she calls her for “nearly everything”.
