The latest snap counts for the Kansas City Chiefs are interesting when looking at several names, including Frank Clark, Isiah Pacheco and more.
The 2022 regular season is well underway and at the quarter-season mark or so, we’re finally starting to get a sense of which players are trending toward more or less playing time for the Kansas City Chiefs.
In Week 4, the Chiefs traveled to Tampa Bay to take on Tom Brady and the Buccaneers in a Sunday night showdown in primetime and came away with a dominant victory that should set the stage for great expectations going forward. After all, if it wasn’t for a gift-wrapped loss to the Colts, the Chiefs would be 4-0 with a two-game lead already in the AFC West.
As it stands, the Chiefs are still tied for the best record in the AFC and they sit alone in the divisional lead, so no one should be complaining at all. They’re coming off of such a strong team effort that there’s a lot to celebrate, so this one should be fun to analyze. Let’s look at what the snap counts tell us about a few key players.
Isiah Pacheco
Pacheco was a thrill to watch on Sunday night with one productive run after another against a tremendous Bucs run defense. Together with Clyde Edwards-Helaire, the Chiefs’ ground game made quite a statement with nearly 200 yards rushing. That said, when looking at the snap counts, it’s hard to believe Pacheco played so few.
Pacheco had 63 rushing yards on the night on only 11 carries, but it seems outrageous he was only in on 17 total snaps—or only 21 percent of all offensive plays. Given that he was only even available to be a part of 1 in every 5 offensive snaps, his production is all the more impressive. It seems safe to believe that the Chiefs are going to give Pacheco even more chances in the ground game going forward, which could further crowd out Jerick McKinnon of the mix as the Chiefs lean more into the tandem of Edwards-Helaire and Pacheco as their primary duo.
