Prince William melts hearts after funny interaction with young fan in viral video

Prince William has gone viral on social media over an adorable interaction he had with a young royal fan a few years ago. The Prince of Wales is known for his sense of humour and caring nature when it comes to children.

William’s effortless ease with children was highlighted recently after a resurfaced video made rounds on social media, showing him speaking to a young boy during a walkabout outside of Windsor Castle in 2023, ahead of the King’s Coronation. The heir to the throne could be seen bending down to chat to the youngster, who did not recognise who he was.

The young boy asked him: “How long until we’re gonna be able to see Prince William?” William came up with a hilarious response, telling him: “I don’t know. I don’t know where he is. Have you seen him yet?” Then the boy said “No,” to which the prince replied: “Where do you think he is?” The boy pointed towards the other side of the area, saying “that way” with the heir adding: “He might come along in a minute”.

He went on to ask the young fan: “Do you know what my name is?” The boy asked if he was “the Government” prompting the royal to burst into laughter, adding: “I’m not the government. I look like the government, do I? My name’s William, too.” The young boy exclaimed: “You’re Prince William?” before shaking hands with the royal and telling his mum: “That’s Prince William mummy!”

The adorable encounter melted hearts online, with one fan saying on TikTok: “Prince William is just so down to Earth – love how he can interact with humans of all ages and backgrounds. Very authentic!”
