King planned ‘ultimate surprise’ for Lili birthday before Harry warning
While it is understood the King had private plans to celebrate Princess Lilibet Diana’s birthday, other senior members of the Royal Family did not publicly wish her a happy birthday on Twitter. King Charles was planning to give Princess Lilibet Diana the “ultimate surprise” before being warned by Prince Harry, it has been claimed. But the monarch had reportedly been instructed by his son to opt for a “less extravagant” gift than he had originally intended.
According to OK! Magazine, a source said that Charles “had his aides looking at custom-made cubby houses, similar to what the Queen and Princess Margaret had when they were girls”. The source added: “He wants to give Lili something she will use and be hers. She’ll remember it forever – it’s going to be the ultimate surprise.” It is not known whether or not the King acquiesced to Harry’s desire for a less dramatic present and Royal Family sources have remained tight-lipped about the party celebrations.
Princess Lilibet Diana’s birthday party reportedly took place at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s £16million home in Montecito.
Despite the King’s private plans for a lavish gift for his granddaughter, other senior royals did not share a public birthday tribute on Twitter. A royal source said this was because senior members of the Royal Family “don’t mark the birthdays of non-working members”.
