Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s net worth revealed four years after leaving Royal Family
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have a massive combined net worth, it’s been claimed, after leaving the Royal Family and securing numerous lucrative deals. Four years after leaving the Royal Family, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s net worth has been revealed. The couple, along with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, live in a luxurious £11 million mansion in Montecito, California.
The Sussexes have a combined net worth of around £48 million ($60 million), even after stepping back from their Royal duties in 2020 and repaying the public money used for renovating Frogmore Cottage, their previous Windsor residence, according to Livemint citing Forbes. In May 2020, it was reported that the Duke and Duchess planned to repay the renovation costs for Frogmore Cottage over the next ten years.
The total refurbishment costs were estimated at around £2.4 million, meaning they would pay approximately £18,000 a month until fully paid. Since their move from England to America, the couple have landed several mega-money deals. In 2020, the same year they announced they were stepping back from Royal duties, they signed a deal with Netflix reportedly worth around £80 million. They also bagged a £17 million advance from publisher Penguin Random House for a four-book deal, including Spare.
They also inked a hefty £18 million deal with Spotify in late 2020, which saw Meghan launch her Archetypes podcast. A joint statement from the couple’s company, Archewell, and Spotify said they had “mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series we made together,” but later a Spotify executive labelled the couple as “f***ing grifters”. The Sussexes’ many money-spinning deals came after they announced their retirement from Royal duties. When they were working royals, 95 percent of their yearly income came from Harry’s dad, King Charles.
Reports suggest that the taxpayer-funded Sovereign Grant made up the other 5 percent of the Sussexes’ earnings. And when they stepped down as senior royals, King Charles gave them “a substantial sum”, according to reports.
Before Meghan Markle joined the Royal Family, she reportedly had about £3.5 million ($5m). She was an actress on the TV show Suits and played Rachel Zane. She’s believed to have gotten paid about £37,000 ($50K) for each show. Now, Meghan is getting ready to launch her brand called American Riviera Orchard, a lifestyle-focused brand that could be similar to Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop.
